Grumpy Old Programmers

... are professional software developers who have seen it all before. Not ‘all’ as in everything, but all as in ‘enough’. Enough to know that ‘developments’ in languages and tools are no longer technology, they are fashion. Enough to know that, in over twenty years in the business, very little new ever happens that is really worth the candle. OK, graphical user interfaces, they’re useful. Oh, and the Internet, better not forget that. Even these godsends are relatively superficial changes to the deep down business of creating software. Most of everything that has happened (and is happening) is just fluff: high cost glitter on the spangly, shimmering façade that is modern programming.весь блог
